Around in Sound is a website originally founded and operated by University of Waterloo and McGill University students hailing from Southern Ontario initially in dedication to the University of Waterloo campus radio shows "Around in Sound Radio" and "Whats Good Radio", broadcasted weekly on Mondays and Wednesday from 11am to 1pm through Sound FM Radio and SoundFM.ca. Sound FM Radio was the campus radio and community radio station for the University of Waterloo. 

Whats Good Radio ran weekly every Monday from 11am to 1pm for about 6 months playing a variety of genres mostly from new cutting edge music sources, with a focus on solid new Canadian acts. Around in Sound Radio ran weekly every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm.  Hosted by This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , Around in Sound Radio's first hour took the listener around the sound of alternative and punk bands, with a special focus on Canadian punk and alternative.  Think Warped Tour circa 2000.  The alternative and punk hour brought sound around from a variety of tastes in the genre including street punk, new rock, metal, emo, pop punk, so on and so forth.  Bringing the listener to a completely different genre, the second hour of Around in Sound Radio focused on alternative hip-hop.  Pre-millenium hip hop and Canadian hip hop acts were a priority on this hour.

In its short time since launching on the World Wide Web, Around in Sound has become much more than a log for its shows on Sound FM Radio. Since the closing of SoundFm radio as a University of Waterloo entity, Around in Sound continues to take its visitors fully around the sound it played on the radio.  Thus we post music reviews, concert reviews, and band interviews from musicians all over the world while keeping a dash of Canadian flavour in the fold. There are more plans for online audio content coming from Around in Sund.

Around in Sound especially likes hearing from and writing about local acts, so if you are a Canadian musician feel free to contact us about getting your Canadian content on a Canadian made site.
